LOCK LAUNCHER

Free · Open Source · Android

Your essentials. No unlock required.

Lock Launcher puts a floating island, a lock-screen dock, and a text-first app drawer on and above your lock screen — so the quick stuff never turns into a twenty-minute scroll. Built by crtGhoul.

01 — Try it here

The phone, minus the pull.

A working miniature of the real thing. Tap the island to expand its complications, switch routines to see the dock change, and swipe up for the text drawer — then type to filter.

Real app, real rules: no badges on anything, ever. The drawer above is the v1.19 text mode — names, not icons, so nothing begs to be tapped.

02 — Your time back

Unlock less. Keep the hours.

Every unlock is an open door to everything else on the phone. If the quick checks — time, torch, one message, one tap — happen on the lock screen instead, some of that time never gets spent. Do your own math:

Be honest. The screen-time report already knows.

Conservative is fine. Even the low end adds up.

True Black UI: pixels off = no draw. On OLED, black surfaces can cut display power by up to ~60% at full brightness* — and Lock Launcher's True Black style is pure #000000, not dark gray.

*Modeled estimate; varies by device and brightness. Time math shown, not promised.

03 — Feature deep dive

Designed to be boring, on purpose.

01

True Black OLED

The True Black style renders surfaces in pure #000000. On an OLED panel those pixels are literally off — zero draw, zero glow in a dark room, nothing softly gray trying to look premium. Your lock screen stops lighting up your face at 2 a.m.

02

No Badges, Ever

No red dots. No counters. No little numbers engineered to itch until you tap them. If something matters, it will still be there when you decide to look. Lock Launcher shows live information — time, battery, network speed — never urgency manufactured by someone else's engagement metric.

03

Aliases + Vault

Rename any shortcut to anything — your words, not the app's marketing name. And what tempts you goes in the hidden-apps vault: installed, available when you deliberately go get it, invisible the other 23 hours of the day. Out of the drawer, out of the routine, out of mind.

04

Web Apps Without the Ads

Turn any website into a fullscreen web-app shortcut that opens in a clean in-app browser with a built-in blocklist — 101,590 domains of ads and trackers refused before they load. The site you wanted, none of the slot machine around it.

05

Commands: ll:// + NFC

Shortcuts can be commands, not just apps: ll://torch, ll://switchProfile, ll://expandIsland. Put one on a cheap NFC tag — by the door, on the desk, in the car — and a tap runs it. Automation that costs two dollars and needs no hub, no cloud, no account.

06

Yours, Offline, Backed Up

Eight groups of thirty-two slots, three profiles, home-screen widgets, an edge sidebar — all configured on-device and exportable to a plain offline backup file you own. No sync server, because there is no server. Restore it on a new phone in a minute and everything is where you left it.

04 — Get it

Free. The whole thing.

v1.19 · Android 9+ · Signed with the project release key. Coming from v1.17 or older? The signing key changed, so Android needs one clean reinstall: export your backup inside the app first, uninstall, install v1.19, restore. One time only — updates are smooth from here.
